I’ve never seen, heard, felt, or really even wondered what an earthquake would be like. I’ve seen the diagrams, the models, the television footage, and the online stories. I’ve heard the word-of-mouth stories of survivors and saviors, the audio cuts from the video screens, and the sound of metal and rock crashing apart like shrapnel. I’ve felt the ground shake, I’ve fallen down on my face, and I’ve been crushed by a great many weights of varying sizes but have never ever seen, heard, felt, or really even wondered what an earthquake would be like.
